About Havapoos

The Havapoo, also known as the “Poovanese”, is an incredibly lovable designer dog breed. It is a hybrid of two breeds, the Havanese and the Poodle, typically a Toy or Miniature. These endearing dogs are relatively new to designer dog breeds and come with a variety of different coat colors and patterns. They are known for being playful and energetic dogs that can bring joy to any owner in need of some canine companionship.

History

The Havapoo may not be a newcomer to the canine world, as some believe. While its exact history is largely unknown, it's widely speculated that this designer breed sprang into existence during the 1990s' trend of creating hybrid canines. For years prior to 2009 this beloved pup was without recognition until finally accepted by the International Designer Canine Association (IDCA). Sadly though popularity has been lacking in recent decades and certification with one of America’s most popular dog clubs -the American Kennel Club – remains unattainable yet elusive for those passionate about raising these delightful fur-babies!
