History

The Golden Retriever is a popular breed of dog that originated in Scotland during the 1800s. It was developed primarily by one man: Sir Dudley Marjoribanks, known as Lord Tweedmouth. Tweedmouth was very interested in breeding different dogs, with a goal of perfecting certain breeds. The Golden Retriever was bred for hunting waterfowl, and quickly became known for its excellent hunting skills.

Temperament

Not only do they make great hunting companions, but they're also loyal and loving family dogs. Golden Retrievers are known for being confident and social, which makes them great playmates for both kids and adults. They're also very trainable, which means they can be taught tricks, manners, and even obedience commands. However, Golden Retrievers are also high energy dogs that need a lot of exercise. Without enough mental and physical stimulation, they may become restless or even hyperactive.
