History

Spanning back centuries, spaniel-type dogs were beloved companions and valued workers as popular hunting dogs. In the 1800s and early 1900s they were categorized based on their job - with small ones used to hunt woodcock dubbed "Cocker" spaniels, while larger versions flushed game from brush earning them the name English Springer Spaniels. It wasn't until 1902 that Cocker Spaniels and English Springers became two distinct breeds rather than variants of one type. Fast forward a decade later to 1913 when these magnificent four legged hunters made their way across an ocean into America where in no time at all they quickly gained status as one of our country's most favored dog breeds!
