History

The English Mastiff is believed to have been around since ancient times, where it was used for war and hunting purposes. During the 1200s, Kubla Khan owned a large number of these dogs in order to hunt with them. The modern version eventually originated in England but unfortunately became associated with cruel sports like dog fighting during later years until 1835 when this activity was banned. Since then, the breed has evolved into more of its present-day peaceful nature that many are familiar with today!

Temperament

English Mastiffs are a great choice for families with children or other animals, boasting both physical strength and affectionate natures. While they love to be around people, they don't require constant attention due to their independent nature. When it comes to strangers however, these canines will make sure you're alerted of any visitors through their signature deep bark without becoming aggressive in the process. Smart as well as loyal guardians by heart; training your furry friend should not pose too much of a challenge either!
