History

The Boxer is the result of combining decades of breeding between two now extinct German Bullenbeissers (Danzinger and Brabanter) and other powerful mastiff-type dogs. During the mid 1800s, hunters sought to create a breed with an unbeatable jaw strength that could take down large game - they certainly succeeded when producing this strong and resilient dog. The final version was established by 1900 and has become one of today's most popular breeds!
